ABOUT THE BOOK
When Toby steps into the path of a dog who bullies him and shreds his beloved stuffed teddy-bear toy, we see the hurt feelings it creates. This beautifully illustrated book teaches children about the importance of kindness, respect, acceptance and being considerate of others, including pets. A wonderful story to start discussions in ages 3 to 10.
BACK STORY
Toby, a Chesapeake Bay retriever, lived a big, and left paw-prints on hearts around the world. Placed in a rescue organization when he was five, he was adopted by the author, who much to her surprise, found his goofy, quirky and sometimes destructive behavior was a force to reckon with. Determined to help him adjust, under her watch Toby became a pet assisted therapy dog, volunteering at a local hospital and visiting schools, and being a mascot in parades and more. His story was published in the wildly successful book, "On Toby's Terms,” and has inspired the TOBY KIDS series, the first title being, "Toby, The Pet Therapy Dog, and His Hospital Friends," and this second book, "Toby, The Pet Therapy Dog, Says Be a Buddy, Not a Bully". Ever popular, Toby has raised thousands for charities, presented to 10,000 children across north America and enlisted some 10,000 people on his global kindness mission.

REVIEWS
“I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to spread the message about the consequences of bullying and what everyone can do to be a better person. The message about being a buddy not a bully is clear for the age group and the solutions and suggestions are realistic and actionable. The illustrations are simple but lovely. The critical thinking questions and maze at the back is great for a classroom setting.” — Rachel A. Sentes, a former pre-school educator
“This is a great book for kids. The moral is important and clear, and I think kids may respond well to it because of the inclusion of dogs. Simple, smart book.” —Chuck Sambuchino, Writers Digest
“You are going to love Toby for his big heart and lessons of being a buddy not a bully. I truly believe animals have so much to teach us. Author Charmaine Hammond lovingly portrays the thoughts of Toby in this book for young readers that are so endearing, but yet, are such powerful teachings at the same time. The illustrations will warm your heart as you see the magic of Toby gently connecting with the children instilling lessons of kindness and compassion. With bullying still at such an epidemic this book needs to be in every child's hands.” —Barbara Techel
